This season our judges will come up with our very own team of the week in both senior and junior cricket. The team will be selected from performances of the current round of matches across all senior grades for our senior teams and across all junior age groups for our junior teams.
The players will be selected as a team in batting line up with the intention of having 6 -7 batsmen a keeper and also the bowlers.
This week was a very even round of performances in the senior grades and we have chosen the following:
Lachie Stuckey: Playing his first game in our third eleven he didn’t look out of place showing signs of a good top order batsmen with his usual flare accompanied with some patience at times. Whilst he only hit 23 runs including a massive six he got the side off to the start they needed chasing a tricky total.
Rhys Marget: Typical performance from the hard hitting veteran saw him continue his form from last season. Wasn’t his best innings but 53 runs on a very slow ground was important in a low scoring win.
Navinder Singh: After a nervous start by our first eleven he came in and steadied the ship at number 3 hitting 33 runs before unfortunately being run out
Niraj DeSilva: In his first game back from a stint at district cricket Niraj combined with Nav Singh to get the first eleven back in the contest scoring a classy 40 runs in a 60 run partnership.
Justin Verrall: New recruit Justin settled in well to his new club playing in the 4th eleven he had a solid undefeated knock of 25 in the middle order. A handy inclusion to the club by the looks of it.
Matt Young: Coming in for his first game in the ones for a while did his best in the middle/lower order to get the team over the line with a hard hitting 23 including some trademark whips off his pads.
Ty Pugliese: Did a good job behind the stumps in the third eleven after a late call up. Took a nice catch, assisted in a runout and then saw the team over the line with the bat in s solid performance from the youngster.
Matthew Lambrick: The veteran all-rounder started off the season in style with a great spell of 3/11 from his 8 overs and then backed it up with a quickfire 31 with the bat.
Gerard Jongen: Playing in the second eleven after an impressive pre-season the young off spinner bowled beautifully picking up 2 wickets and unlucky not to add to his tally especially after bowling a batsman with a no ball!
Travis Mulder: After being forced to bowl into the wind the genius pace bowler bowled well and got the second eleven off to a great start with 2 early wickets in a tidy performance.
Adam Wild: The champion fast bowler bowled very well picking up 2/23 off his 7 overs in the first eleven. Unlucky not to have picked up a wicket in the very first over of the game but solid start from the veteran.
12th man
Spencer Stuckey: The pint sized gun junior player played a great game in the fourth eleven and gave us a great spell of 1/15 off 7 overs and then a solid 20 opening the batting. Big season ahead for Spence.
